I grew up on a ranch in western South Dakota. I filmed this quick video while visiting my parents for Christmas 2009.
I essentially made this for myself. The sights and sounds in this video bring back all sorts of childhood memories; the way the snow accumulates on a tractor tire like a pompadour, the sound of a tractor when it first starts on a cold morning, the sound of the hydraulics when the forks close, the way my dad would unroll a large round hay bale with the front tractor tire and cows eating grain. When I was young, I didn't realize how unique my childhood was. But I guess it's the same for all of us. It takes a little hind sight to see that.
I hope this video inspires you to be more observant of the ordinary things in your life that are actually extraordinary.
