"Becoming a matador is a very long and difficult process"

Prados, himself a former matador with the nickname "El Fundi", also noted that as many as 80 students, 3 of them girls aged 9 to 24, were educated at the bullfighting school.

Prados said, "There is no time to be a Matador. But they usually take the first step towards becoming a matador after 5-6 years of training. Here, students who have passed all kinds of learning stages related to bullfighting first participate in bullfighting activities held in front of small bulls and then in some villages. Becoming a matador is a very long and difficult process. If students want to climb these steps, they must first of all have a great passion. This passion requires patience, willingness, altruism and hard work., "he said.

The main values in the culture of bullfights, respect and sacrifice

Miguel Rodriguez, who has been teaching in bullfighting schools for 9 years, said: "As in every sector right now, we have uncertainty, but the excitement on the faces of the students who come here gives us hope." he noted that, despite all the negativity, they are trying to be positive.

Rodriguez, who said that they try to instill the values of this culture in students who come to bullfighting schools, said: "Respect and sacrifice are the main values here. We want students to get these values, whether they are matadors or not. We strive for them to learn the story of the bull, to respect the bulls, to respect the public, whether they like bullfighting or not. We are also giving this message to the families." said.

Stating that not only those with family ties to this sector have come to the bullfighting school, but also young people who have been affected by watching or reading an interview somewhere, Rodriguez said, "How many of the students this year will be professionals?" to his question, he gave the following answer:

"1st or 2nd, if we're lucky. It's very difficult to become a matador and it's a long career. They shouldn't just think about making money. They should also know how to listen to themselves, be happy with what they are doing, be excited. According to the current rules in Spain, you can go out in front of small bulls and the public at a bullfighting event from the age of 14. you can be a matador from the age of 16, but it's a very difficult thing and most of them can't do it."

"My dream is to become a matador and be able to buy a house for my mother"

On the other hand, Carlos Carmona, 22, who has been attending bullfighting school since the age of 14 and has been going to small arenas in as many as 30 bullfighting events as an amateur by this time, said, "I feel ready to go out as a matador in front of a bull now. For me, bullfighting is a way of life. When I meet a bull, I feel very strong emotions, great excitement. This is a kind of art that you enjoy, a mixture of fear and other emotions. And in the end, a beautiful show turns out. I like to experience this feeling by facing the bull." said.

Carmona, an interpreter of the feelings of many students who attend bullfighting schools in Spain, said: "My dream is to become a matador and be able to buy a house for my mother., "he added.

Nicolas, a 10-year-old who has been coming to school at the Las Ventas arena since 2019 and says that he sometimes sees himself doing bullfighting in his dream, also said, "It's hard to do bullfighting. But I really like being in front of an animal. That's why my dream is to become a matador, to do bullfighting. Not an easy thing. Because it is very difficult to control a very strong animal." he made his statements.
