A particular site, present in the Orbe plain, pictured in video. Here you can learn about the process of adding earthy material to peaty farmland. This process is performed by
It was set up as part of a black soil conservation program.
This process is there to respond to the main problem encountered by certain lands in this region. Indeed, some lands are particularly vulnerable to erosion. They have lost 1 meter in depth in the space of 30 years. This could jeopardize the future of these lands for future generations of farmers if nothing is done.
The aim of the process is to mix the 30 centimeters of freshly deposited earthy material with 30 centimeters of peat using a strawberry.
This forms 60 centimeters of new soil which keeps the good characteristics of the peat by eliminating its erosion.
