Cullinan Ranch levee breach - San Pablo Bay NWR

January 6, 2014 - San Pablo Bay, Calif. - Ducks Unlimited, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and several partners today dramatically reintroduced tidal waters to the 1,575- acre Cullinan Ranch Unit of the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge by lowering and breaching an aging perimeter levee, capping the restoration of more than 6,100 acres of contiguous tidal marsh habitat in the northern San Francisco Bay estuary. This video is the initial breach, allowing water to flow into previously-used farmland for the first time in 100 years.
